Join us July 27, 2024 for our nationwide One Nation One Project celebration of arts and wellness. The Berger Theatre stage features a concert sharing of Anita, a new musical by Borderlands Theater about the power of joy to create a sense of home and belonging. The post-show fiesta spills out into the courtyard of the Berger Center with live music, heritage food booths, art exhibits, and interactive activities promoting the connection between arts participation and personal and collective wellbeing. Tucson Mayor Regina Romero will announce the winners of the Art is Vital art contest. Bring the family and enjoy a summer night in community!

6-8pm  Concert sharing of Anita: A musical

Book & lyrics by Milta Ortiz / Composed & lyrics by Quetzal Guerrero / Directed by Chach Snook/ Musical Direction by Jonathan Heras/ Video design by Adam Coooper- TerĂ¡n

What’s a concert sharing? A concert sharing is like a music concert, the performers are on stage singing all the songs (and speaking the dialogue in between) with a live band backing them. There will be video projections and lighting, but there’s not a lot of set design (like a concert).

Arrive early and check out the entries to the Art Is Vital art contest in the lobby of the Berger Theater. The exhibit is sponsored by Galeria Mitotera. The winner will be announced after the musical.

8-10pm Wellness Fiesta! (free)

After the concert, walk out to the Berger Courtyard to enjoy a community fiesta highlighting the connection between Arts participation and Wellbeing. Featuring:

  • Heritage foods featuring Salvadoran (the character Anita’s home country), Cuban, and Native cuisine curated by Tucson Meet Yourself.
  • Tucson Mayor Regina Romero will announce the winner of the art contest.
  • Live music by Dos Suenos.
  • Resource tables and vendors
  • Interactive art activities that highlight the connection between the Arts and Health. Activities designed by Logan Philips, Lilliana Espinoza, Kali Quinn, Julian Argote, & Marc David Pinate.
